The Gourmet Quilter

Susan- Claire Mayfield has been a quilter for many years.  She has taken quilting to another level by designing unique quilts and is internationally known for both teaching and designing.  Susan- Claire is often asked to judge overseas and regularly exhibits in the USA & UK. She also tutors regularly from her base in Otaki in a gorgeous rural setting, her work space is an absolute quilter’s delight.

Susan- Claire was asked to present at The Quilters Guild, she was uncertain of her topic & her husband suggested cooking.  She took up the challenge & prepared a quilter’s version of a three course dinner.  This is how The Gourmet Quilter was born.

Susan’s passion & skill is in producing unique & original designs.  Many of these can be viewed on www.gourmetquilter.com. Among her favourites are producing mystery quilts, these are popular worldwide.

Susan has also recently published a book called The Town & Country Quilt. This book details an exciting quilt consisting of 365 x 4" blocks, one for each day of the year, plus the borders. Each block is unique and depicts the sort of things that you might see in the town and country, starting in the centre, with the city and a night sky, working out in rounds (the sky lightens as we go) & includes unique scenes including light industry, suburbs, shops, gardens, parks and then into farms, right out to the countryside in the borders.

Susan has produced many tutorials that are available on YouTube. She has also appeared in many publications including Quilty Box, Quilt Mania, New Zealand Quilter and Australian Quilting and Patchwork magazine.
